Summary

This subsidy from Uonuma City (Niigata Prefecture) supports local businesses replacing existing equipment with high energy-saving equipment to reduce energy costs. Newly created in FY2026, the first application round runs April 1 to June 30, 2026, with a total budget of 132.4 million yen. A second round may be held if the budget is not exhausted. Eligible applicants are businesses based in Uonuma City committed to continuing operations there and cooperating with city surveys. Three categories qualify: (1) individual business operators with address and main office in the city (white-form tax filers excluded), (2) SME corporations with registered head office in the city, and (3) other legal persons (medical, social welfare, school, general incorporated/foundation, NPO, cooperatives) with main office in the city. Eligible expenses include equipment costs, installation work, transport, and removal of existing equipment, with a minimum total of 300,000 yen. Target equipment must fall under either Category 1 (top-runner standard achievement rate of 100%+: air conditioners, lighting, refrigerators/freezers, water heaters, transformers, showcases) or Category 2 (utility equipment listed by METI-designated organizations). Consumption tax, warranty/insurance fees, recycling fees, and maintenance fees are excluded. Purchases must be from suppliers with offices in Uonuma City. Subsidy rate is up to 2/3, with a cap of 3 million yen in principle (special cap for FY2022 city subsidy recipients). The new equipment must not exceed 110% of the previous capacity, with category-specific criteria (kW for AC, W for lighting, kVA for transformers, etc.). Contracts/orders before grant approval are ineligible. Completion report is due within 30 days of project completion or by February 15, 2027, whichever is earlier. Approval takes about one week; payment about two weeks after report.
