Tokyo Local Renewable Energy and Storage Installation Promotion Program
Summary
① Overview: Tokyo subsidizes design, equipment and construction for locally consumed renewable generation, renewable heat, community-oriented renewables and standalone stationary batteries at non-residential Tokyo facilities. FIT/FIP-certified facilities are excluded. ② Applicants: Companies, sole proprietors, schools, foundations, medical and welfare corporations and cooperatives may apply; national and local governments are excluded. A Tokyo office, Tokyo installation and consumption site, tax and conduct compliance, and anti-organized-crime eligibility are required. Lease schemes normally require joint filing. ③ Funding: Design, battery and power-conditioning equipment, metering and necessary installation work are eligible. Pre-award contracts, tax, fees, excess equipment, non-borne costs and overlapping Tokyo-funded costs are excluded. Batteries must be stationary and meet charging and fire-safety rules. ④ Rates and schedule: Support is 1/2 to 4/5, generally capped at JPY 200 million. Standalone batteries are capped at JPY 9 million for SMEs and similar entities or JPY 8 million for other businesses. Applications run April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027, subject to budget.
