Summary

①Overview: The Sakaiminato City Foreign Workers Housing Environment Improvement Subsidy provides partial subsidies to in-city employers who hire foreign workers under the technical intern training program, the training employment system, the specified skilled worker system, or as highly-skilled foreign professionals (highly skilled professional or engineer/specialist in humanities/international services). It supports housing environment improvements to help foreign workers settle and stay at local businesses. The program is effective from April 1, 2026 (Reiwa 8) and applies to FY2026 projects. ②Eligible Applicants: In-city employers hiring foreign workers. Excluded: those eligible for Tottori Prefecture's foreign worker housing subsidy, agricultural-sector foreign worker housing subsidy, or foreign care worker support subsidy; those with delinquent Sakaiminato municipal taxes; and persons related to organized crime groups under the Sakaiminato Anti-Organized Crime Ordinance. Foreign workers must move in within 6 months of project completion. ③Eligible Expenses: (1) Housing environment improvement—renovation/remodeling of vacant houses, rented rooms, dormitories (bath/toilet renovation, wall/floor repair). (2) Internet environment setup—Wi-Fi installation and routers. (3) Equipment purchase/installation—home air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines. Not eligible: land purchase, restoration costs upon move-out, utilities, rent, ISP/Wi-Fi monthly fees, rental/lease fees, portable equipment. ④Rate/Cap/Schedule: Subsidy rate is 1/3, with a maximum of 1,500,000 yen (500,000 yen cap if no housing improvement). One application per property (per building), one application per business per fiscal year. Required forms: Form 1 (plan), Form 3 (tax consent), Form 4 (officer roster). Selection of in-city contractors is encouraged. Grant decision is issued within 30 days of application receipt.
