Saga City Workplace Heatstroke Countermeasures Support Subsidy
Summary
(1) Overview: The Saga City Workplace Heatstroke Countermeasures Support Subsidy supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) located in Saga City in purchasing items that mitigate heatstroke risks in the workplace, given increasing labor accidents from heatstroke amid persistent extreme heat. The scheme aims to improve workplace environments, retain human resources, and sustain business continuity for SMEs affected by rising prices and wage hikes. It takes effect April 1, 2026. (2) Eligible applicants: SMEs with a head office or business location in Saga City that have no municipal tax arrears. Excluded are agriculture/forestry/fishery operators, medical/welfare operators, adult entertainment businesses, organized crime associates, and SMEs more than 1/2 owned by a single large enterprise (or 2/3 by multiple). Construction, manufacturing, electricity/gas/water, transport/postal, waste processing, auto repair, machine repair, and security services are designated High Heatstroke Risk Industries. (3) Eligible expenses: Costs of purchasing items aimed at heatstroke countermeasures (excluding consumption tax and bank fees). Examples include spot coolers, industrial fans, air-conditioned work wear, cooling vests, WBGT (heat index) meters, and other items approved by the mayor. New construction, renovation, prefab/temporary structures, fixed installation equipment, and items already covered by other subsidies are excluded. (4) Rate, cap, schedule and application tips: Subsidy rate is up to 1/2 of eligible expenses. Cap is JPY 200,000 (floor 100,000) for applicants with ≥1 regular employee, or JPY 100,000 (floor 50,000) for sole operators without employees. Application window: June 1 – June 30, 2026 (small businesses in high-risk industries may apply from May 1). Implementation must finish by June 30, 2026; results report due within 30 days of completion.
