Reiwa 7 year correction Business industrial power storage system introduction support business
Summary
This program supports the installation of business and industrial-scale battery storage systems to accelerate renewable energy adoption and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Battery systems are enabled for demand response (DR) to secure grid adjustment capacity during peak demand periods and support renewable energy curtailment management. Eligible applicants include battery aggregators, retail electric utilities, and subsidy recipients (corporations or sole proprietors operating in Japan), with no employee size restrictions nationwide. Subsidy covers the installation costs of business and industrial battery storage systems, with mandatory DR contracts with battery aggregators or participation in DR menus offered by retail electric utilities. Subsidy recipients must have sound management foundations, maintain DR participation through March 31, 2028, and consent to reporting requirements from the government or SII regarding implementation status during the DR period. Even after the DR period ends, recipients must maintain the subsidized equipment as a prudent manager during the disposal restriction period and notify SII in advance of any changes in equipment utilization including sale or disposal.
