Summary

(1) Overview: The R8 Redepro Practical Training Subsidy, administered by the Okinawa Prefectural Industry Promotion Public Corporation under commission from Okinawa Prefecture, supports SMEs to strengthen their 'earning power' by funding training and reskilling carried out under a corporation-prescribed 'Human Resources Development Plan'. Reskilling here means acquiring know-how/skills needed to drive DX or to develop a new business different from the existing one. (2) Eligible applicants: For-profit corporations headquartered in Okinawa Prefecture that continuously operate within the prefecture, have prepared the corporation-prescribed Human Resources Development Plan with mid-to-long-term productivity targets, are current on corporate enterprise tax and other taxes, are not connected to organized crime, do not run adult-entertainment businesses, and are not subject to civil rehabilitation or corporate reorganization proceedings. If the applicant has previously received this subsidy, applications are allowed only within three years from the first adoption year. (3) Eligible expenses and content: Three types of training are supported — (a) invitation training inviting domestic/overseas experts (online included), (b) dispatch training where employees visit leading domestic/overseas companies, and (c) open-style training (reskilling course tuition). Eligible expense items: transportation (air/rail/boat), lodging (JPY 9,800/day domestic, JPY 11,600-19,300 overseas), lecturer fees (JPY 30,000/hour cap), venue fees (JPY 3,500/hour cap), interpreter fees (JPY 5,000/hour cap), leasing fees, printing/binding, course tuition, and other expenses recognised by the governor. Trainees must be directly employed by the applicant (dispatched/contracted personnel excluded). (4) Rate, ceiling, schedule and application points: Ceiling is JPY 1,000,000 per company; subsidy rate is 8/10 of eligible expenses. About 13 companies will be adopted. Public offering period: Apr 27 - Aug 14, 2026. First round: document check 4/27-5/8, application 4/27-5/15, screening mid-June. Second round: document check 8/3-8/7, application 8/3-8/14, screening early September. Training must finish by Jan 31, 2027. A pre-application interview with the secretariat during the document-check window is mandatory. Companies certified under three Okinawa-recommended programmes (HR Development / Income Improvement / Work-Life Balance) receive bonus points.
