[Okayama Prefecture] FY2026 EV/PHEV Charging Equipment Installation Subsidy
Summary
1) Overview: Okayama Prefecture provides a subsidy, within budget, to entities installing EV/PHEV charging equipment in the prefecture to promote EV uptake and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The scheme covers two project categories: rapid (kyusoku) charger installation and normal (futsu) charger / outlet installation, with FY2026 applications now accepted. 2) Eligible applicants: (1) local public bodies, (2) corporations, (3) representatives or owners of management associations of new or existing condominium-type housing (manshon), (4) sole proprietors installing chargers at public, commercial, lodging or similar facilities effective for EV diffusion (excluding car-dealer outlets), (5) monthly parking lot owners, and (6) leasing companies that enter into lease contracts for the equipment with any of the above. Organised-crime affiliates are excluded. 3) Eligible expenses and content: covered costs are charger purchase price (the lower of the CEV-approved upper limit or actual purchase price) and installation works (charger installation, signage installation, ancillary equipment installation, and other installation-related costs). Requirements include: new equipment only, no duplicate prefectural subsidy applications, installation in a location freely accessible from a public road, signage at the entrance, and collection of charging fees from users. 4) Rate, cap, schedule and key points: subsidy rate is 1/2 for rapid chargers and 1/2 for normal chargers (3/4 for chargers installed in already-sold condominiums). Caps are 1,500,000 yen per rapid charger (plus 250,000 yen per additional outlet beyond two) and 180,000 yen per normal charger. Unit caps: one rapid unit per facility; normal units capped at 20% of the lot capacity or 10 units, whichever is lower. FY2026 application deadline is 10 Feb 2027; completion report deadline 25 Mar 2027. Equipment must be held for 5 years from installation completion.
