Niigata City Experiential Tourism Support Subsidy
Summary
1. Overview: Niigata City's Experiential Tourism Support Subsidy helps create or promote tourism experiences using the city's appealing resources such as food, sake, agriculture and culture. The goal is to improve traveler satisfaction and attract more visitors by enabling programs through which visitors staying in the city can experience local appeal. 2. Eligible applicants: Eligible applicants include city-based NPOs, organizations with a main office in the city, organizations whose members are at least half city residents when they do not have a main office in the city, city-based organizations or sole proprietors, and joint ventures composed of these entities. Religious, political or election-related bodies, applicants related to organized crime groups, and applicants with city tax arrears are excluded. 3. Eligible activities and costs: Eligible projects must create or promote experiential tourism, have novelty or development potential, not be merely a one-time event, and be expected to continue in future fiscal years. Eligible costs include equipment, consumables, printed materials, media promotion through magazines, websites or social media, outsourced production of online experience content, and other costs approved by the mayor as necessary and appropriate. 4. Rate, cap and schedule: The subsidy rate is up to one half of eligible costs, with a cap of 100,000 yen per eligible project per fiscal year. Applications are accepted from April 1, 2026 through January 29, 2027, subject to budget availability. Projects must start after the grant decision, and performance reports are due within 30 days after completion or by February 26, 2027, whichever comes first.
