Namegata City High-Temperature-Tolerant Rice Cultivation Support Subsidy
Summary
1) Overview: Namegata City (Ibaraki Pref.) provides this subsidy within budget to local farmers who plant and sell high-temperature-tolerant rice varieties, in order to mitigate quality losses caused by summer heat, raise producer income and protect the reputation of Namegata rice. 2) Eligible applicants: Farmers (individuals or corporations engaged in agriculture) with a registered address in Namegata City, who have no overdue municipal taxes. Both conditions must be satisfied. 3) Eligible expenses / content: The designated variety is "Niji-no-Kirameki". The rice must be grown on paddy plots listed in the applicant's water-paddy ledger and sold as staple-food rice. The subsidy is paid as a unit price of 400 JPY per 30 kg sold. Required documents: copy of sales certificate, evidence that an inspection was conducted, tax certificate (showing no municipal tax arrears) and any other documents the Mayor deems necessary. 4) Rate / cap / schedule / tips: Unit-price scheme. The eligible yield is capped at 660 kg per 10 a (22 bags); yield above that is not subsidised. Payment is within the budget allocated for the fiscal year, so applications may be reduced or closed if oversubscribed. Submit documents to the Forestry & Fisheries Section (Kitaura office, 1F) of Namegata City Hall. Tip: complete planting, harvest, inspection and sale of "Niji-no-Kirameki" first, then collect the sales certificate, inspection record and tax-clearance certificate before filing.
