Nagasaki Prefecture Traditional Crafts Support Subsidy
Summary
1) Overview: The Nagasaki Prefecture Traditional Crafts Support Subsidy aims to maintain and sustain prefecture-designated traditional crafts by funding sales-channel expansion initiatives by designated traditional-craft producers within the prefectural budget. Administered by Nagasaki Prefecture Industry & Labor Department, New Industry Promotion Division, Regional Industry Promotion Section, under the prefectural subsidy rules and this implementation ordinance. 2) Eligible Applicants: Producers of traditional crafts officially designated by Nagasaki Prefecture, or groups composed of such designated producers. The 10 designated craft items include Goto Coral, Nagasaki Hand-forged Knives, Wakata Inkstone, Tsushima-Manzan Fishhooks, Ao-stone, Koga Dolls, Sasebo Tops, Nagasaki Kites & Biidoro-yoma, Goto Baramon, and Iki Oni-dako. Applicants must have no prefectural tax arrears. 3) Eligible Expenses & Content: Four project categories: (1) Sales-channel development (exhibitions, trade shows, product fairs in metropolitan areas — travel, lodging, booth fees, decoration, shipping, advertising, expert fees); (2) Product development & improvement (raw materials, machinery/tools, commissioned processing, analysis, expert advice); (3) Demand cultivation (EC site construction, web platforms, package design); (4) International trade show participation. Excluded: consumption tax, related-party payments, industrial waste disposal, insurance, residential shared facilities, magazines, gift certificates. 4) Rate, Cap, Schedule & Application Points: Subsidy rate is up to one-half (1/2) of eligible expenses (rounded down to nearest 1,000 yen), with a cap of 200,000 yen per applicant. Application periods: 1st round May 1 – June 30, 2026 (17:00); 2nd round July 1 – October 23, 2026 (17:00), ending earlier if budget exhausted. Project period: from grant decision date through February 19, 2027. Required documents: Form 1 grant application, Form 2 business plan, tax clearance certificate, Form 3 pledge.
