Kawagoe City Eco Action 21 Certification Acquisition Support Subsidy

Kawagoe City partly funds the cost for SMEs based in the city to newly obtain Eco Action 21 certification, an environmental management system following the 2017 MOE guidelines, aiming to cut local greenhouse gas and waste emissions. Eligible applicants are SMEs under Article 2(1) of the SME Basic Act with HQ in Kawagoe that newly obtain certification by end of January of the fiscal year, have no delinquent municipal taxes, and are not primarily religious or political. Bankrupt, reorganization, rehabilitation, bid-suspended, or organized-crime-linked firms are excluded. Eligible expenses are limited to certification and registration fees paid to the Eco Action 21 Central Secretariat (excluding consumption taxes). Required: certificate copy, payment proof, environmental management report, plus corporate registry or sole-proprietor opening notice / tax return. The subsidy is the lower of 1/2 of eligible expenses or 50,000 JPY (rounded down to 1,000 JPY), one grant per business. Form No. 1 must be filed by end of February. The ordinance runs from 2025-10-01 to 2027-03-31.
