Summary

(1) Overview: The Kamijima Town New Startup / Business Succession Subsidy supports new business launches, business succession, or second-creation efforts that solve local issues such as creating new demand within the town, improving existing services and systems, or capturing external demand to develop the town. The Tourism Strategy Division (Setouchi Exchange Hall) administers selection within the budget. (2) Eligible applicants: Persons who, after the subsidy grant decision and by March 1, 2027, will register an individual business or establish a corporation (kabushiki, godo, gomei, goshi kaisha, cooperative, NPO, general incorporated association, etc.) as its representative. For succession/second-creation cases, the successor must take over by the same deadline. The representative must reside (or plan to reside) in Kamijima Town, place a business office in town, and conduct business there. No municipal tax arrears, ability to start operations within 6 months of grant, ability to sustain operations independently, and no prior receipt of a town startup subsidy are required. Excluded: organized-crime members, political groups, religious organizations, and public corporations. (3) Eligible expenses & content: Equipment costs (machinery/equipment purchase or lease, simple warehouse construction, dismantling); renovation costs (business building modifications); store/office rental costs; R&D costs (market research, prototyping, outsourcing, expert honoraria, travel); advertising costs (HP, pamphlets, DM, sales promotion); employee training costs (license acquisition such as small-boat or crane operator that cannot be obtained on the island). Items under 50,000 yen per unit, items convertible to non-business use, mere replacement of aging equipment, land/building acquisition or new construction, and personal-vehicle purchase are excluded. (4) Rate/cap/schedule/key points: Subsidy rate is two-thirds of eligible expenses (rounded down to nearest 1,000 yen); maximum 4,000,000 yen (about 1 case selected). Application period: April 28, 2026 – June 30, 2026. Eligible expense period: from grant-decision date through March 1, 2027. Required documents: Application Form (Form 1), business plan, quotation copies, tax-arrears certificate, and a pledge (誓約書). Online business-plan consultation via San-Sapo Ehime is available. Performance report (Form 6) is due March 1, 2027 by 17:00. For 5 years after completion, an annual implementation status report (Form 9) is required.
