Invention Research Incentive Grant Program

1. Program overview: The Japan Society for the Advancement of Inventions supports individual inventors commercializing useful inventions. Eligible projects must involve a registered patent, or a registered utility model with a technical opinion. 2. Eligible applicants: Applicants are SMEs or individuals. A representative applies for an individual joint invention, and company approval is needed for an employee invention. Adult wards and persons under curatorship are excluded. Prior recipients must have submitted the follow-up report. 3. Eligible expenses: Covered costs are direct expenses for prototyping, testing or research, including materials, machinery and tools, outsourced work, and expert guidance. Personnel, office and administrative costs are excluded. 4. Amount and schedule: The maximum grant is generally JPY1,000,000 per application. No subsidy rate is stated.
