Imizu City SME Carbon Neutral Promotion Subsidy

This subsidy is operated by Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture, using the national "Regional Revitalization Emergency Grant for Priority Support Against Price Hikes" of FY Reiwa 8. Against the backdrop of global decarbonization and rising energy prices, it supports SMEs in the city that introduce energy-saving equipment, aiming to reduce costs, raise productivity, improve the environment for wage increases, secure supply-chain advantage, and develop new sales channels. Imizu City Business Support Center provides hands-on consulting alongside the subsidy. Eligible applicants are SMEs (as defined by Article 2(1) of the SME Basic Act) that maintain a head office (where business is substantively conducted) or a business establishment within Imizu City, that have no delinquent municipal taxes, and that have obtained — or are expected to obtain by the time of completion report — certification under the "Zero-Carbon City Imizu" Environmental Partnership scheme. Small business operators are included. Eligible projects are the replacement or improvement of energy-saving equipment (e.g. air-conditioning, water heaters, LED lighting) installed at buildings within the city. Eligible expenses include design, equipment purchase, installation work and disposal of existing equipment; the equipment body must cost at least 100,000 yen excluding consumption tax. Expenses already subsidized by the national or local government, or for self-manufactured products, are not eligible. The subsidy has two tiers: projects based on an energy-saving diagnosis receive up to 2/3 of eligible expenses, capped at 1,333,000 yen; other projects receive up to 1/2, capped at 1,000,000 yen. The project period runs from 1 May 2026 to 26 Feb 2027, with applications accepted from 1 May 2026 to 29 Jan 2027, ending when the budget cap is reached. Only one grant per applicant per fiscal year is allowed. Applications are made on Form 1 with a Form 2 business plan and a municipal tax payment certificate (issued within 3 months).
