Summary

①Overview: Under Article 6 of the Gifu City Business Creation Support Subsidy Ordinance (enacted April 1 2009, last revised March 29 2024), Gifu City operates the Trade Show / Exhibition Participation Subsidy. It supports SMEs and groups exhibiting their own products or services at trade shows, exhibitions, fairs, and similar events held outside Gifu Prefecture or online, for the purpose of opening new customers, business partners, and sales channels, thereby promoting the sustainable economic development of the city. ②Eligible applicants: SMEs (as defined by Article 2-1 of the SME Basic Act) with their head office, main establishment, or factory inside Gifu City; groups whose members are at least 3/4 SMEs; and persons within 5 years of leaving the (former) city-run incubation facility. Excluded: those in arrears on municipal tax; those receiving other public subsidies for the same exhibition; those who have already received this subsidy in the current fiscal year; and those whose group companies have received it the same year. ③Eligible expenses & content: Exhibition booth fees and similar charges (including booking deposits paid in the same fiscal year for that exhibition), excluding consumption tax. Eligible events must serve to open new business contacts; events whose primary purpose is retail sales, non-public events, events held outside the application fiscal year, or events the Mayor deems inappropriate are excluded. ④Rate / cap / schedule / application points: Subsidy is up to 1/2 of eligible expenses, capped at JPY 100,000 (within budget). Applications must be filed at least one month before the event. Up to 2 consecutive fiscal years are allowed (3 consecutive years for first-time incubation-facility leavers, or for those exhibiting products developed using the Industry-Academia or Startup subsidies). After the maximum consecutive period, at least one fiscal year must pass before reapplying. Required documents include Form 1 application, business plan (Form 2), budget (Form 4), copy of organizer's exhibition permit, proof of no tax arrears, consent form, corporate registration or business-opening notice, and recent financial statements.
