Summary

1. Program overview: This Toba City subsidy uses accommodation tax revenue to support improvements to the appearance and functions of accommodation facilities in the city. It is intended to enhance tourism resources and improve the environment for receiving travelers. Eligible projects include exterior repairs and renovations such as walls, roofs, signs and lighting, improvements to shared areas such as guest rooms, entrances, lobbies and corridors, barrier-free, energy-saving and labor-saving equipment, and other projects recognized by the mayor as improving guest satisfaction. 2. Eligible applicants: Applicants must operate an accommodation facility in Toba City under the Hotel Business Act, excluding boarding house operations, or under the Private Lodging Business Act. They must be designated as special collection obligors for the accommodation tax under the Toba City Accommodation Tax Ordinance, have no city tax arrears, and not fall under organized crime group exclusions. The facility must be used by guests, and the subsidy may be granted only once per accommodation facility in the same fiscal year. 3. Eligible costs and support: Eligible expenses are direct costs required for the project, including construction and repair costs, purchase and installation costs for equipment, machinery or fixtures, design costs, construction supervision costs, and other costs deemed necessary by the mayor. Ordinary maintenance or operating costs, consumables, costs for areas not used by guests, and other inappropriate costs are excluded. If subsidies or similar grants are received from the national government, prefecture, or other organizations, that amount is deducted from eligible expenses. 4. Rate, cap, and schedule: The subsidy rate is 10/10 for the portion of eligible expenses up to 2 million yen and 1/2 for the portion exceeding 2 million yen, with a maximum subsidy of 3 million yen. Applications are accepted from June 15, 2026 to 5:00 p.m. on July 3, 2026, so as of May 25, 2026 the program is upcoming. Selection is not first-come, first-served; applications are reviewed comprehensively for visual improvement, convenience for users, and related factors. Work must begin after the grant decision, and completion reports must be submitted promptly after completion.
