FY2026 Subsidy for Overseas IP Applications by SMEs (Nagano)
Summary
①Overview: Run by the Nagano Industrial Promotion Foundation under METI's Overseas IP Application Support Program, this subsidy partially covers Nagano SMEs' costs of filing patent, utility model, design, trademark, or anti-preemptive-trademark applications abroad (Paris, PCT, Hague, Madrid) based on a Japanese basic application. ②Applicants: SMEs based in Nagano, plus cooperatives, chambers of commerce, NPOs. SME caps: mfg/transport ≤300M JPY or 300 staff; wholesale 100M/100; services 50M/100; retail 50M/50. Deemed-large firms and those with 3-yr avg taxable income >1.5B JPY are excluded. ③Eligible: foreign-office filing fees, local-agent fees, Japanese attorney fees, translation. Japan-side fees, PCT international-phase fees, tax, searches and drafting are out. Only costs between grant decision and end-Jan qualify. ④Rate/Cap/Schedule: up to 1/2; 3M JPY/company; 1.5M/patent, 600K/utility-design-trademark, 300K/anti-preemptive trademark. FY2026: apply 14 May–26 Jun; adoption late Jul; report end-Jan 2027; payment end-Mar. A 2.5% wage-hike pledge or WLB cert adds points; past grantees skipping the follow-up survey are auto-rejected; J-Grants supported.
