FY2026 Information Processing, Services and Manufacturing Industry Subsidy (Supply Chain Resilience for Critical Minerals)

FY2026 Critical-Minerals Supply-Chain Resilience subsidy under the Information Processing, Services & Manufacturing budget. For economic security, it partially funds performance-evaluation work needed to switch procurement routes for critical minerals / parts / raw materials and strengthen Japan's supply-disruption response. Applicants: consortia of Japanese corporations bearing project cost and risk. Co-investors appoint a lead and sign an application-consent agreement so one entity files; the unit is per part name. Targets cover automotive parts (drive motors, magnets, semiconductors, EV batteries), industrial machinery (servo/stepping motors, carbide & diamond tools) and other parts such as grid-scale batteries. Eligible expenses are exclusive to the performance evaluation: personnel (health-insurance grade unit cost), travel, interpretation/translation, outsourcing, certification & test-facility fees, sample purchases, materials/consumables/molds, rental-leasing, and equipment. Excluded: pre-approval orders, pre-existing equipment, meetings, general-purpose office IT, consumption tax, real-estate/vehicles, tax-accountant/lawyer fees. Subsidy rate is 1/3 of eligible expenses (tax-excluded); projects whose eligible-expense total is JPY 3M or less are out of scope. Items at JPY 500K (tax-excluded) or above need 3 quotes. Schedule: solicitation 2026-05-15 to 2026-06-12 (e-application opens 2026-05-20), adoption early Jul 2026, project-completion deadline 2027-01-31, payment deadline 2027-03-31.
