Summary

(1) Overview: Shunan City operates the 'Shunan City Fuel Cell Vehicle Fuel Cost Subsidy' to promote fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) and expand hydrogen demand. The scheme covers half of the hydrogen fueling cost at the Iwatani Hydrogen Station Yamaguchi-Shunan (1-324-18 Tsuzumiumi, Shunan City), thereby supporting regional carbon-neutral transport and hydrogen utilization. The subsidy is granted by the city to the station operator, not paid directly to individual users. (2) Eligible users: Anyone who uses the Iwatani Hydrogen Station Yamaguchi-Shunan is eligible. Residency in Shunan City is not required - corporations (KK, GK, etc.), sole proprietors, NPOs, and public-sector vehicle owners refueling at the station all benefit automatically. (3) Eligible expense and benefit: The eligible expense is the hydrogen fueling cost at the designated station. The benefit is a 50 percent price reduction at the pump. As of 1 April 2026, the listed price is 1,500 yen/kg (1,650 yen/kg incl. tax), of which Shunan City covers half, so users pay 750 yen/kg (825 yen/kg incl. tax). No individual application paperwork is required; the discount is applied automatically at the time of refueling. (4) Rate, ceiling, schedule and key points: Subsidy rate is 50 percent. Period runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 and ends when the city budget is exhausted. There is no per-user application form - simply refuel at the station during the period. Inquiries: Shunan City Commerce and Industry Division, Combinato Decarbonization Office (Tel 0834-22-8837).
