FY2026 Diverse Experience-based Tourism Promotion Subsidy

1) Overview | The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Industry and Labor Affairs is implementing the Diverse Experience-based Tourism Promotion Subsidy to support beauty salon operators in Tokyo who wish to position their high-quality beauty services as new tourism resources for inbound foreign travelers. The subsidy covers part of the cost of launching new beauty-experience tourism services such as haircut, nail, and makeup programs designed for overseas visitors. 2) Eligible Recipients | Operators that hold a registered head office or branch in Tokyo, run a beauty salon or equivalent facility within Tokyo, and provide beauty-experience tourism services. Beauty-experience tourism services are defined as experiential programs for foreign travelers using haircut, nail, makeup, etc. as tourism content. Both corporations and sole proprietors may apply. 3) Eligible Expenses and Content | Costs required to develop new services for foreign travelers using beauty technology — including equipment and supplies, production costs, printing and binding, translation, outsourcing, and facility improvement. All expenses must (1) be necessary to address foreign travelers' language, culture, and customs, and (2) help establish an integrated reception system covering customer attraction through service delivery. 4) Rate, Ceiling, Schedule, Application Notes | The subsidy rate is two-thirds of eligible expenses, capped at JPY 2,000,000, whichever is lower. The project period runs from the grant decision date to 31 March 2027 (Reiwa 9). Applications are accepted by registered mail (kan'i kakitome) or via jGrants, with the deadline of 30 November 2026 (must arrive). jGrants requires a GBizID Prime account (issuance takes 2–3 weeks). Acceptance closes when the budget is exhausted.
