FY2026 Aomori Prefecture Subsidy for Introduction of Business-use Self-consumption Solar Power Generation Equipment

(1) Overview: Aomori Prefecture provides this subsidy under FY2026 to support local businesses introducing business-use self-consumption solar power generation equipment and storage batteries, treating GX (Green Transformation) Aomori as a major business opportunity. Implementation is based on the national Ministry of Environment grant scheme for CO2 emission reduction (regional decarbonization transition / renewable energy promotion grant), administered by Aomori Prefecture Department of Economy and Industry, Regional Enterprise Support Division. (2) Eligible applicants: (i) SMEs with headquarters or business offices in Aomori Prefecture (as defined under the Small and Medium Enterprise Basic Act, including business cooperatives, enterprise cooperatives, and joint enterprise cooperatives); (ii) Companies under the Companies Act with HQ or offices in Aomori (including large enterprises) excluded from (i). Adult entertainment operators, tax delinquents, organized crime affiliates, and entities under corporate reorganization/civil rehabilitation are excluded. Applicants must have proper accounting systems. (3) Eligible expenses and content: Costs for introducing (a) self-consumption solar PV systems and (b) storage batteries, including construction costs (materials, labor, direct costs), equipment costs, services costs, and administrative costs. Equipment must be installed in Aomori, be commercially available with installation track records — used, leased, and third-party-owned equipment excluded. Requirements include power generation meter installation, no FIT/FIP certification, no J-Credit registration, and 50%+ of generated electricity must be consumed by the demander within the prefecture, plus receipt of GX advisory or energy-saving optimization diagnosis. (4) Rates, caps, schedule and tips: Solar PV: SMEs JPY 50,000/kW (cap JPY 5M); non-SMEs JPY 25,000/kW (cap JPY 5M). Storage battery: 1/3 of eligible costs, cap JPY 5.3M (JPY 141K/kWh up to 20kWh, JPY 160K/kWh over 20kWh). Application period: 2026-05-11 to 2026-12-11 17:00, with 7 monthly review rounds June through December. Adoption prioritized by cost efficiency within budget. Submit by post to the Aomori Solar Subsidy Office at NPO CROSS in Hachinohe.
