FemTech Development Support and Diffusion Promotion Project for Women's Active Participation (Tokyo SME Support Corporation)
Summary
The 'FemTech Development Support and Diffusion Promotion Project for Women's Active Participation' is a grant program by the Tokyo SME Support Corporation that subsidizes a portion of expenses incurred by Tokyo-based SMEs and similar entities for developing/improving new products and disseminating technologies that address women's health issues. It aims to advance FemTech technology development and adoption, support Tokyo SMEs, and accelerate realization of a society where women actively thrive. Eligible applicants must fall into one of: (1) SMEs (companies or sole proprietors) meeting industry-specific capital/employee thresholds (e.g., manufacturing ≤300 million yen or ≤300 employees, wholesale ≤100 million yen or ≤100 employees, services ≤50 million yen or ≤100 employees, hotels ≤50 million yen or ≤200 employees, retail ≤50 million yen or ≤50 employees) and not under substantive control of large enterprises; (2) SME associations whose member majority operates in Tokyo; or (3) Individuals concretely planning to establish a business in Tokyo. As of June 1, 2026, corporations and SME associations must have Tokyo head/branch registry and substantive ≥1 year activity in Tokyo (or be unsettled-startup status); individual operators must have Tokyo tax address with ≥1 year activity; founders must have a concrete Tokyo founding plan. Social welfare corporations, medical corporations, NPOs, general incorporated associations/foundations, school corporations, and LLPs are excluded. Tax-delinquent applicants, organized-crime-related entities, sex/gambling-related operators, multilevel-marketing/spiritual-sales operators are excluded. Eligible themes cover six women's health topics: menstruation, pregnancy/infertility, postnatal care, menopause, gynecological diseases, and health literacy — projects primarily targeting beauty are excluded. Development/Improvement Phase: upper limit 20,000,000 yen, rate up to 2/3 of eligible expenses, period from November 1, 2026 to July 31, 2028 (up to 1 year 9 months). Eligible expenses: raw materials/subsidiary materials, machinery/tools/equipment, outsourcing/commissioning, IP filing/introduction, expert guidance, direct personnel costs (up to 10,000,000 yen, applying the personnel rate table), exhibition participation, advertising (PR total cap 5,000,000 yen, printing/PR video each capped 500,000 yen, marketing capped 2,000,000 yen). Diffusion Promotion Phase: upper limit 3,500,000 yen (①leading-user introduction 2,000,000 yen + ②exhibition/advertising 1,500,000 yen), rate up to 1/2, period from the day after completion inspection of Phase 1, within 1 year. Application period: June 15 (Mon) to June 30 (Tue), 17:00, 2026 — strictly enforced. Applications are accepted only via Jグランツ (requires GビズID Prime account). Schedule: document (1st) screening notice by late August; interview (2nd) screening on September 15–16, 2026 (Akihabara area, in-person); comprehensive screening in October; grant decision late October; subsidy implementation from November 1, 2026. Required documents for corporations: 12 items (application form, supplementary materials, quotations, patent gazettes, original registry certificate, last 2 fiscal years' tax returns, original prefectural/metropolitan tax payment certificates, product summary, anti-social-forces oath, proxy-application consent). Individual operators and pre-settlement entities have additional documents. After implementation, coordinator dispatch, pre-support, progress reporting, interim inspection, performance reporting, and completion inspection determine the final subsidy. Post-implementation: 5-year company-status reporting with potential revenue payback; assets (acquisition cost ≥500,000 yen pre-tax) require 5-year management and preservation.
