Summary

This subsidy from Bungo-ohno City (Oita Prefecture) supports cycle-tourism promotion by funding cyclist reception infrastructure, cycle tours, and cycle events conducted by businesses and organizations operating within the city. The program consists of three eligible categories: (1) Cyclist Reception Environment Development, including a Rental Bicycle track and a Reception Equipment track; (2) Cycle Tour Hosting Support; and (3) Cycle Event Hosting Support. The aim is to combine local tourism resources with cycling to revitalize the regional economy. Eligible applicants are businesses, organizations and groups with a facility, store, or office located within Bungo-ohno City. Corporations, sole proprietors, voluntary associations, NPOs, and other entities are envisaged, but parties without a base inside the city cannot apply. Applications must be submitted before the project is implemented, so early consultation is recommended. Eligible expenses depend on the track. The Rental Bicycle track covers purchase of e-bikes and rental bicycles; the Reception Equipment track covers cycle racks, bicycle covers and other equipment/accessories. The Tour track covers consignment fees, honoraria, consumables directly related to PR/printing, usage fees, rental fees and other mayor-approved costs for tours around city tourism spots and roadside stations. The Event track covers similar categories for events that broadcast local cycle tourism. Mere map-making or route-setting alone is not eligible. The subsidy rate is up to two-thirds of eligible expenses for all tracks. Caps are JPY 100,000 per bicycle (max JPY 400,000) for the Rental Bicycle track, JPY 100,000 for the Reception Equipment track, JPY 300,000 for the Tour track, and JPY 500,000 for the Event track. Applications run from 1 May 2026 to mid-February 2027 (closes early if the budget is exhausted), and projects must be completed by 26 February 2027. Performance reports are due within 30 days of completion or by the end of February of the fiscal year, whichever is earlier.
