This is a national subsidy program supporting biodiversity conservation and restoration initiatives across regions to achieve 2030 Nature Positive targets. Eligible applicants include local governments, NPOs, private organizations, corporations, universities, councils, and operators of zoos, botanical gardens, and aquariums, with activities limited to designated areas such as national parks, nature coexistence sites, and important satoyama regions. The program offers six business menus including planning for nature coexistence site certification, strengthening biodiversity activities, conservation in national parks, ex-situ and in-situ conservation of endangered species, and satoyama hub formation, with subsidy amounts varying by project content. Pre-consultation with local environmental offices is mandatory for non-municipal first-time applicants under menus 1 and 5, and recommended for all applicants. Applications are accepted with initial deadline at end of March and subsequent monthly deadlines, so early consultation and submission are critical as the program ends once budget limits are reached.
