(1) Overview: The Awara City Satellite Office Attraction Subsidy is offered by Awara City (Fukui Prefecture) to promote new business location, industrial development and employment expansion. It subsidizes a portion of the costs required to establish a satellite office in Awara City for out-of-prefecture (kengai) operators, covering land/building, equipment, communication lines, housing rent and U/I-turn hire bonuses for up to three years. (2) Eligible Applicants: Out-of-prefecture operators that set up a satellite office in Awara City and (a) are a new entrant, or are starting a second or later new/expansion office within 10 years of first entry; (b) hire at least 1 U/I-turn newcomer (or 3 new employees in total) within one year of business start; and (c) commit to continue operations for at least 5 years. (3) Eligible Costs / Subsidy Content: Eight cost categories are covered — (1) land/building acquisition or renovation, (2) land/building rent, (3) office equipment acquisition, (4) office equipment lease, (5) communication line fees, (6) housing rent (12 months), (7) U/I-turn new-hire bonus, (8) child-rearing household (U/I-turn) hire bonus. Costs incurred in each of years 1, 2 and 3 after project start are eligible. (4) Rates, Caps, Schedule, Application Tips: Subsidy rates are 5/10 for most categories and 10/10 for communication line fees. Per-establishment caps over 3 years are up to JPY 15,000,000 (equipment categories), JPY 7,500,000 (land/building), JPY 1,800,000 (housing rent), JPY 2,700,000 (U/I-turn bonus) and JPY 4,500,000 (child-rearing bonus). Applicants submit Form 1 (designation), Form 7 (land/building contract notice — within 10 days of signing), then Forms 8/9/10/12 for start, business-launch, grant application and results report.
