1. Program overview: This Aomori Prefecture subsidy supports SMEs and eligible organizations that are developing or expanding overseas sales channels. It is intended to promote exports and overseas business development by companies in the prefecture, thereby revitalizing local SMEs and contributing to employment growth. Eligible projects include exhibiting at overseas trade fairs and business meetings, creating foreign-language websites, brochures and product PR videos, designing packaging for overseas markets, applying for international standards or overseas intellectual property rights, and opening overseas-oriented online shops. 2. Eligible applicants: Eligible applicants are SMEs or individuals that have their headquarters or a business office in Aomori Prefecture and fall under Article 2, paragraph 1 of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Basic Act. Organizations recognized by the governor may also be eligible. The project plan must describe the applicant's business, overseas business experience, coordination with outside organizations, products or technologies to be promoted overseas, target countries or regions, implementation system, three-year business plan, funding plan, and expected effects. 3. Eligible expenses and support: Eligible expenses vary by project type. For overseas trade fairs, costs may include booth rental and decoration, interpretation, travel for one person, shipping, equipment rental, utilities, follow-up email translation up to two times, and agent costs when unavoidable. Website, brochure and video projects may cover production, planning and design, translation, printing, filming and editing. Packaging, standards and intellectual property applications, and overseas online shop registration are also covered. Maintenance costs, reprinting costs, and projects receiving other subsidies are excluded. 4. Rate, cap, and schedule: The subsidy rate is up to one half of eligible project costs, with an annual cap of 500,000 yen per company. Applications are accepted from May 13, 2026 to June 17, 2026. A closed review committee evaluates the submitted project plans, with review scheduled through July 29, 2026 and grant or rejection notices issued in August. The project period runs from the grant decision date to March 31, 2027; if a prior-start notification is filed, activities from April 1, 2026 may be eligible. Completion reports are due by the earlier of 30 days after completion or April 10, 2027.
